Biography:
I am a light painter. I discovered this magical form of photography and have become hopelessly hooked.
Light painting consists of long exposures done at night with light sources being moved in front of the lens to create "brush strokes" on your "canvas" or composition. All of my photos are one exposure straight out of the camera. My "Fire & Light Masks" are captured by my pond for the reflection then rotated and cropped.
Another light painter, Jason D Page, entered into this first and he is an extraordinary photographer & painter of light. Thanks to him, I found this contest. The light painting community is encouraging and willing to share which adds to the excitement of it all.
I have been going at this seriously for about 8 months, learning photography and playing around with various techniques and ideas as I go. The light painting community has been a huge inspiration and support through it all. Particularly "Light Junkies" http://www.flickr.com/groups/lightjunkies/
I plan to offer interactive light painting demos to people of all ages. I will kick this business venture off at a local festival offering festival-goers the ability to "Make your own light painting". I'll also be displaying prints from around the world and can't wait until it all comes together.
This is a long bio but I had to say it all! I have found my lifelong hobby. When the world is your canvas and light is your medium, amazing things can be created.
