Biography:
I try to capture the contingent and accidental nature of beauty in my everyday experience, in hopes of constantly reminding me of the beauty in the never ending but always fleeting ongoing moment. To be honest: I have a terrible memory. I always seem to think that things always have been whatever they are now (probably my borderline personality disorder in action), and I tend to emotionally project it into the past present and future. Documenting the way situations and things change over time is a great reminder for me that things don't necessarily have to be a certain way, that with enough will, patience, love, and faith new constructive alternatives can be made.
I love heidegger and philosophy, when able I like to capture people before they know the camera is in front of them because to me thats when people are at their most beautiful. I would rather remember people in this state then a theatrical one because it is a more honest portrayal of who they "really" are (whatever that means).
With portraiture especially there is a direct relationship between myself and my subjects. I've never been able to take a decent picture of somebody I couldn't be within a loving arms reach.
As far as my landscape work... I'm a sucker for repeating themes, what can I say? Hope you enjoy it, and most importantly, that photography can enrich your everyday experience. (for what good would it do you to see the world through my eyes?)
