Biography:
Vanja Vukovic was born in Montenegro and moved to Germany at the age of four. After studying Communicationdesign and Media Arts pathway Photography in Darmstadt, Germany and Portsmouth, United Kindom she added studying Fine Arts by Martha Rosler and Wolfgang Tillmans at the Städelschule in Frankfurt, Germany.
Asking Vanja Vukovic, resident in Frankfurt after her basic motivation of her work, the artist would simply say: "I deal with the world because I am interested in the world." But, if you take a deeper look into her complex work, the impression of the simplicity disappears fast behind a multilayered interest in human relations and social conditions.Vanja works mostly with the medium photography and is looking for friction areas with conceptual contents again and again. For her, is the understanding of the world always her appropriation and in the end, this only happens as a self-awareness in a long process of stagnation, contradictions and jumps.
