Biography:
Some of my earliest memories include the smell of fixer in my grandfather's darkroom on India St in San Diego, California back in the '70s. The idea of capturing a moment in time, then magically representing it for others to see still amazes me to this day.
Through the years, I have shot many formats 2.25, 4x5, 35mm and of course now digital. Never professionally, rather just for myself and friends. I tend to find my favorite subject matter to be the landscape around us -- from the mountains of the Sierra Nevadas to the spire of the Washington Monument.
And if I can capture the spirit of the moment too, that makes it all that much better. The photographs I have included in this collection represent three of my favorite images -- the dream-like qualities are the result of capturing each of these images with a hand-made pinhole camera.
I think these each represent the spirit of the Hawaiian islands, the simplicity of what photography can be and for me, the desire to get back to Kauai as soon as possible.
