Biography:
After moving to Italy in 1995, my childhood love of black and white film photography returned. I purchased a (very) basic 35mm Nikon. Many of the images I have in my portfolio are of Rome - which quickly became my favourite city.
After living in Italy, I moved to Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Dubai, San Diego, and eventually took a job at the Pentagon. On September 11, 2001 I was working as the Navy’s Communication Watch Officer, my first day serving in this role.
Following these events, the death of many of my co-workers, and the personal toll, I found it difficult to appreciate the aesthetic and put my camera down. Following a series of additional personal losses, and an examination of self, I decided that I was missing something, picked my camera back up and haven't put it down since.
My portfolio is fine art photography. I use both digital and medium format film to create black and white images of the human form, nature, and destinations. The print process I employ involves a high-tech approach to traditional print making on fiber paper.
I am an alumnus of Georgetown University (2005, public policy and philosophy) and currently reside in the greater Washington DC area.
The three images I chose are from my figure work. I do hope you enjoy them.
