Emily Schiffer

Biography:
Born 1980. In 2003Emily Schiffer received her BA Cum Laude in Fine Arts and African American Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2006 she received a Fulbright Fellowship in Photography. In 2007 her work was selected as one of the top ten portfolios for the Leica Oskar Barnak award, and was shown at the Recontres d’Arles festival. Schiffer has exhibited her photographs in the US, Japan, the Philippines, and France. Her work has received numerous awards and is in the permanent collections of The Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts, Japan, Foto Baryo, Philippines, and The Center for Fine Art Photography, USA. In July 2005, she founded a photography program on the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota. Schiffer has taught photography at institutions including Foto Baryo, Philippines, the JCC Manhattan, and the New York Public Schools. For two years Schiffer worked as a full time assistant to Lorna Simpson. Schiffer is based in New York.
