Biography:
As of now, I'm in the process of working on a series of self-portraits that deal with the ideals of society and their effects on the individual. I'm exploring opinions/ideas about religion, self-consciousness, physical appearance, war, etc. I also have worked on a series of self portraits exploring self-disguise and being uncomfortable with who you are/have become. I often find that self-portraiture helps me to learn more about myself and my opinions and emotions as I work. Not only does the work become more personal, I also find that it is extremely freeing to work through an issue and then to be finished with it once I finish a painting.
