Biography:
I'm a 22 year old girl from Arkansas. Like most painters, I never really know what I’m up to. It seems, looking back on my work, that regardless of the ideas I consciously attempt to explore that my work remains largely preoccupied with my personal life – with my crushes, hang-ups, family and friends. That said, I try to depict suburban American culture in a way that acknowledges its strangeness and dysfunction, but also its seductive appeal. I try to find new ways to depict friendships between teenage girls, and especially to draw attention to the homoeroticism that has characterized, at the very least, my closest female friendships. I am interested in the American Midwest, strange animals, camp outs, canoe trips, new technology, 15th century Christian imagery, and romantic love. I want to remain sincere, celebrate beauty, and create work that supports and examines the human soul.
