Toronto, Canada
Biography:
I was born in a small town in the former Yugoslavia. Because we were poor and did not have a TV in our house until I was 10 years old, I had to rely on my imagination a lot. Each year, any books and comic books I read and collected through the year would be burned in the winter time. My drawings and paintings met the same fate. We used a coal stove to heat our home in winter, and paper was always needed to start up the fire. As a child, I would stare at the dust particles dancing in the beams of light that streamed through the holes of the window blinds of our small house. I remember the curiosity and wonder I felt at those times which developed into an insatiable hunger for knowledge.
At 15 years of age I moved to Toronto, Canada, where I studied fine art and multimedia. While at art school, I developed a passion for photography that was greater than my budget for photography equipment. Obviously you don’t need expensive equipment to create great photographs, but with film and papers and dark-room rentals, the cost increases fast. You can imagine my excitement when digital cameras arrived on the scene. At last I was able to shoot photos without having to worry about my budget.
I am happiest when creating, experimenting, and sharing.
