Biography:
I recently moved back to New York after living in Barcelona for three years where I studied at Metāfora, Centre destudis dArt i Artterāpia. Here I attended a year of an international art open workshop program and then the first year of a masters program in art therapy. I also spent this time exploring new techniques of art making and trying new materials. Initially I focused primarily on photography (I received a BFA at Otis Art Institute in 1989) but now am experimenting with sculpture, video and public intervention as well. Usually, I let the theme of a project dictate the medium as opposed to first decide to make a sculpture or photograph, etc. Much of my work is inspired by nature, curiosity, games, playing and humor.
I consider all work to be a self-portrait and there is no way to separate the self from the work. This work here is about rediscovery in a very basic manner, by making a version of myself, a puppet. It is an ongoing project where the final product varies from the sculpture (puppet), photographs and possibly video/performance.
